He didn't have the network longevity that today's super-announcers have. But Gowdy dominated an era like no one else. His voice is missed. His expertise is missed. Another of the voices of my youth is gone. Many Red Sox games in my youth that I watched on the old black and white TV were voiced by this wonderful talent. And he was the voice of American Sportsman on ABC and many of the parts of ABC's Wide World of Sports. He made me interested in many sports I would never have followed otherwise. Curt, we have missed you for years, I am sad that your voice will now be silenced forever.
